GERMANASCA VALLEY,  A VALLEY TO BE DISCOVERED

The Conca dei 13 Laghi (The Basin of 13 Lakes) is very well-known and picturesque, one of the most charming and spectacular places in Germanasca Valley. Traveling along military mule tracks, in places still well preserved, the flat sections alternate with others where there are ups and downs, going up hills and around rocky barriers, reaching accessible peaks. Thus, you get the opportunity to admire the mountains that surround the Prali basin and beyond.

In addition to the GTA (Great Crossing of the Alps) and CAI (Italian Alpine Club) paths, we suggest “The Fratelli Peyrot Trail” which runs through approximately two-thirds of the Prali valley. Reachable on foot or by chairlift, between 2000 and 2700 metres above sea level, various slopes connect it to the valley floor. At one point, it goes into Pellice Valley. The route offers exceptional scenery with views from Monte Rosa to Monviso, from Dauphiné to the Maritime Alps. It is rich in evidence of industrial archaeology, military history and thriving nature including all the most representative Alpine species, even some of the rarest ones.
