In cross-country skiing, the coordinated movement between legs and arms allows you to advance by sliding on the snow with long, thin skis and two support poles on your feet.

There are two techniques: the classic one which is based on the force of friction, the most used and also simplest, which involves following the previously prepared slopes with the two tracks where the skis slide, or the skating technique; in this case the skis do not proceed along the track, but slide alternately, with their tips apart, on trackless terrain.
